ReplyDelete栢兄said...

Daniel.
下!?
ReplyDelete乜「環保」唔係講Environmental Protection for Mankind 咩? Resources Conservation?
HI Pakman,
ReplyDeleteYou said '母語教學等「一刀切」改革',dont you think there is political purpose behind??The fact is China communists want to brainwash HK students, starting point is the students, lower the status of English, those bulldogs HK offical of course will try their best to do it.
Another example is Government is going to combine both Syll A and B of HKCEE English exam,it means the exam will be easier for Syll B's students, but harder for Syll A's students, but then most students are taking Syll A,so total passing rate will be higher for English, then no one can claim mother-language teaching will lower the standard of students.
And then obviously,u really hate those environmentalists.....i dont agree with that...
孫柏文, please do more research before writing your column, I am extremely disappointed about your finance knowledge and I see your article on apply daily about SIV today: the content has A LOT OF MISTAKES AND MISINTERPRETATION about SIV!!!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, SIV stands for Structured Investment Vehicle, NOT Special Investment Vehicle. So you got the name of your subject wrong!
Secondly, your comment on "管 理 費 , 咁 就 可 能 要 收 番 收 入 20% 作 為 管 理 費 " is also wrong. The management fee is usually a small amount, with a hurdle rate on performance. Investors are not stupid to pay 20% for a simple leverage play.
Thirdly, your comments on WHO is the investors of SIV also showed your ignorance on these investments.
Very few are wealthy individual investors. If you are in the finance industry, you should know that most are institutional investors!!
Last, most buyers invested in rated Capital Notes, which the return are usually benchmarked against LIBOR. The sponsor, such as HSBC, Citi, and IKB, can be buyers of the equity tranche.
SIV is basically a leverage return play.
please please do some more research when writing your column.
You article today is so crap!!!
To the first anon,
ReplyDeleteMcD's publicity on straws are nothing but a prime case of the "corporate suicide tendency".
For once you yield on Straws, they will come after trans fat, and then just fat.
NUTS!
As for our video effort... I am just a peon...
to allan
no idea about that stock.
to damon
I have so much to learn.
To the second anon + c.m.,
Toni vernelli = 明光社 hahahahah!
pulp writer,
統一中國 hahahahaha good company name!
to second last anon,
Thats what I fear most. The push for school choice will be hindered not by teacher's union. But by those who believe in Social and Thought engineering through education...
To the last anon,
"SIV is basically a leverage return play."
Yes!
On "management fees"... due to word count restraint, I lumped management fees together with what the manager gets in performance bonus. sorry...
"...Very few are wealthy individual investors. If you are in the finance industry, you should know that most are institutional investors!!.."
I do. When I say 非富則貴嘅顧客. I include institutional investors. Don't they have a lot of $$?
Also, due to word count restraint, I chose not to explain the 3 tier capital structure of the HSBC's STRUCTURED INVESTMENT VEHICLES (hahahah my editor and I got teased a lot about that mistake yesterday) when the way that the interest paid for by the SIV for the borrowed money is calculated is rather secondary when one considers that it is the inability for SIV's to roll over their loans that are the lethal part.
Finally...
"...You article today is so crap!!!..."
Plus ca change plus la meme chose.
ReplyDeletemost SIVs are sold to financial institutions such as Banks, can you call them 非富則貴嘅顧客??
-> very misleading! why don't you just spell it out to readers on who are the victims??
"On "management fees"... due to word count restraint, I lumped management fees together with what the manager gets in performance bonus. sorry..."
-> I think this is not an excuse if you are presenting your views to the public, you should try every effort to present that correctly!
I only want to point out that for a reader who do not know finance well and the message they get from reading your column yesterday can be very misleading and you were not able to give them a good picture on what has happened to SIVs.
Local newspapers are often being criticized for exaggeration and poor quality and I think you have seriously contributed to it!
