Can u translate this?

I am looking for someone to translate this eloquently into Chinese...

From bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage
From great courage to liberty
From liberty to abundance
From abundance to complacency
From complacency to apathy
From apathy to government dependence
From government dependency to bondage

Please feel free to translate this in "comments"

Would publish the best entry on Tuesday = )

    從勇氣到自由
    從自由到豐裕
    從豐裕到自滿
    從自滿到冷漠
    從冷漠到依賴
    從依賴到奴役

    Simple 5 steps...
1)Cut and paste what he wrote
2)Realize its probably some USofA Freemarket/Freemason/Freedom crap
3)Go to google translate AND some Taiwan online dictionary (Since they don't have Virginia as 弗吉尼亞 ) #$^#$%&

5)Pluck in those and pick the best and you're done!

5 steps and 5 min! haha

  5. 嘩, 暗黑, 很棒的演譯 ... 幾乎好過原文.

原文 spiritual faith 與 faith 可有分別呀?

從暗黑走到光明, which stage are we ? ... sigh

Hey no hard feeling...I am not professional trained translator at all. I am just a ga-chan(加燦) with too much time...

I do think it will be cool to make it in 文言文 format, but I do not have that Chinese literacy level.

As for "不長進的香港傳媒及博客" woot...I have no idea what you talking about ...is there something I don't know?

Anyway, this a fun little translation request and feel free to take a jab...its Web 2.0 afterall. =)

    t:
If you look into the context of US politics, it has a strong religious background(where it all started), and hence the origins of that "spiritual" faith - 神聖,屬靈, almost biblical...

I was not able to make it in two words...for I think it can be
    精神信仰/神聖信念/etc...

    Good point ...

    however i cannot agree that
    "而這種模式, 也正是有權者能奴役大眾的利器"

Unless PacMan shut off those comments he do not like to see or listen then this is "有權者能奴役大眾". A blog is like one's own kingdom and the owner has the absoulte "power" in controlling all comments. As long as this forum is open I do not get your point.

I also do not see anything 一硾定音. The point i've bring out is that "is there a better translation for spiritual faith". I personally give a 90 marks for 暗黑's translation. After all, it is Web 2.0 and we can refine and make it 100 marks :-)

    暗黑

    Thanks.

Nearly forgot ... "In God We Trust", yes i believe in "money" :-P

  10. 奴役磿練出信念。
    信念產生了勇氣。
    勇氣爭取到自由。
    自由帶來了豐裕。
    豐裕沉澱成自滿。
    自滿養成了苟且。
    苟且淪落為依賴。
    而依賴者恒被奴役。

    我也來試試。卡夫卡有許多都譯得太好了,實在沒法找到更好的詞,所以有點重覆。

  12. I like Zombie's translation most. Pakman why do you ask? Perhaps it's better if you quote some sources. A little googling yields a couple. I think this is best: http://www.snopes.com/politics/quotes/tyler.asp

This sequence resonates a lot with me, being in the U.S and observing from the inside. Right now, I'd say the U.S. public is certain complacent, what with the abundance of wealth and prosperity. Apathy? Oh yes. Compare now with 40 years ago when the Vietnam war is in full swing. Where's the student movement now? The general public is either brainwashed by the Right wing media like Faux News, or too busy having fun to care. Dependency? Well you walk into a WalMart and most stuff you find in there are made in China. Bondage? Inching closer with the erosion of personal liberty by that "Commander in Chief," in the name of fighting terrorism. I can go on and on...

  13. Gentlemen (with the odd lady),

Due to word count, the translation has been pushed back to weds.

But must say the two entries so far is very strong.

才疏學淺, just my two cents :-)

  16. carla: 其實我的意思只是我覺得卡夫卡的翻譯極好,如果pakman趕時間的話,卡夫卡就可以勝出了。我絕對沒有discourage挑戰者的意思。如果你覺得我的comment不恰當,那我先說聲對不起了。

另外,我覺得在pakman這個blog上留言的特別之處,就是人人都可以暢所欲言,大家都不會過分認真,尤其當地主本身的態度也是遊戲人間(again, this is only my perception and i'm speaking on behalf of no one else!)。carla,不要擔心,你在這裡不會得罪人的! :)

  17. s tsui - couldn't agree more.
    我今天也在別處碰上「言者無心聽者有意」的事,不快樂了幾分鐘

    還是這兒好
    你說得對,連"地主"本人都如此遊戲人間,大家何妨暢所欲言呢
